Key responsibility:

Management and staff in Kofax’s Software Development job family contribute to the company’s efforts in building and improving software products and applications that are sold to customers. The Software Development Intern position requires individuals who can make independent technical decisions regarding assigned work.

Software Development Interns should be able to perform the following tasks independently:

• Contribute to product ideas and innovation.
• Conduct necessary research to solve specific design problems.
• Create architecture and design documentation for software development requirements.
• Write/develop code for new, existing, or enhanced software products and applications.
• Collaborate with internal partners, such as Quality Assurance, to test new or enhanced products and applications.
• Participate in cross-functional build/configuration activities to ensure effective and efficient software engineering design.
• Contribute to downstream business activities, such as technical publications and development of technical communication tools, to ensure streamlined and effective end-user utilization of Kofax software products and applications.
• Ensure timely, target-oriented, and budget-conscious completion of new or updated releases without compromising quality.
• Provide support to internal and external partners, stakeholders, and customers in responding to technical inquiries, as needed.

Required Skills Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

• Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.

• Capability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks as required.

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and Development, as well as modern design patterns and anti-patterns.
• Experience with C++ 11 programming standards or C# and higher-level language features.
• Strong grasp of multi-threaded design and development.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of development targets.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Visual Studio for C++ development.
• Experience in developing using SOLID programming principles.
• Experience in developing network applications, including TCP/IP communications, HTTP, REST, SOAP.
• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks and mocking frameworks is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of CI tools such as Jenkins.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, etc.

Required Experience Software Development Interns should have experience in C++, C#, or Java and will work on an Agile Scrum team to develop and maintain various desktop and server business applications in the Kofax family of print, capture, and legal products.

Education: Currently pursuing a BS in Computer Science or equivalent.

Other Responsibilities:

• Collaborate as part of an Agile Scrum team to design, develop, and maintain existing server-side business applications.
• Follow best practices for software development to ensure high-quality and maintainable code.
• Enhance automation and unit test suites.
• Contribute to efforts on continuous delivery and continuous integration.
• Assist in code reviews and reducing technical debt.
